First impressions

The preparation you put into getting your property ready for sale and how it presents to the buying public is a major factor in the selling process. First impressions are lasting and can be the difference between achieving an average price and a premium price.

Most home buyers will generally drive or walk past your property to decide whether or not to arrange an inspection, so we have put together a list of tips to assist you to create maximum buyer interest:

  • Mow lawns, weed and tidy the garden
  • Prune trees and shrubs close to the house
  • Clean dust and cobwebs from the exterior
  • Remove rubbish
  • Repair small maintenance problems & paintwork

Creating space internally by de-cluttering rooms & removing excess furniture will enable buyers to fully appreciate room sizes. Tips for inside the home include:

  • Attend to all minor repairs, ie. leaking taps, creaking doors, cracks in walls and ceilings
  • Vacuum/steam clean carpets, wash floors & windows
  • Kitchen, wash & store all dishes, clean oven
  • Bathrooms, ensure all surfaces are clean, ie. basins, vanities, showers, toilets and tiles
  • Make up beds
  • Maximise available natural light, open blinds & curtains
  • Keep rooms free from clutter and toys
